Vi-Jon has expanded its voluntary recall to include all lots of Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution within expiry to the consumer level due to potential microbial contamination with Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens, a Gram-negative bacterium.

The expanded recall includes all lots of cherry flavor and grape flavor Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution, 10 fl oz (296mL) within expiry. Additionally, the Company has recalled all lots of the lemon flavor Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution, 10 fl oz (296mL). The recalled products were distributed nationwide to wholesale and retail outlets. A list of all recalled products can be found here.

Magnesium Citrate Saline Laxative Oral Solution is used for relief of occasional constipation. Immunocompromised individuals may be at an increased risk for invasive infections that could lead to serious, life-threatening consequences if a contaminated product is consumed. The Company is currently investigating 3 reports of serious adverse reactions potentially related to this recall.
