Estie Mermelstein, MSN, FNP-BC, earned her Master of Science in nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing. She has worked as a nurse in women’s health and as a nurse practitioner in family medicine. Estie also earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and was editor-in-chief of her undergraduate newspaper. She currently freelances in medical communications with a focus on clinician-facing content. She and her husband have three young children and live in New Jersey.

As HIV-exposed, uninfected infants have higher rates of morbidity and mortality than HIV-unexposed uninfected infants, a study was conducted to analyze whether particular infections or immune responses contribute to hospitalization.
